Adalaide, Addy, The Barclay Daughter
Lore
Born as the only daughter and second to youngest Barclay, Adalaide had a tough childhood. The Barclays, a formally reknown family of monster hunters, was ostracized from the Association of the Guilds a good forty years ago due to bad blood between the patriachs of the Barclays and the Huxleys. As a girl, Adalaide had gotten her hunter training secondhand through her older brothers, and was not sworn in officially due to her gender and the guild's traditional practices involving women's places in such practices.
Despite the setbacks, Adalaide grew up as stubborn as a weed through pavement, proving her skill as a capable hunter at the age of 18, when she saved a coven of witches from a horde of Hide Behinds, and met the love of her life, Beau Reddeis. Beau, a young witch traveling from Tennessee to the mountains of Eastern Kentucky, soon found herself involved with a love triangle between Adalaide Barclay and John Huxley-- two young monster hunters from feuding families. Adalaide, battling her own internalized homophobia, pushed Beau away in the end, thinking it was better for both of them.
A tragic incident at the hands of her father's foolishness led to the decimation of most of the Barclays-- save for Adalaide and her younger brother, Abner Barclay. With their family line being disgraced and disbarred from the hunting institution, she lived her life with her only surviving brother, the two of them taking rogue bounties until their retirement. In their fifties, Abner started acting oddly after discovering some artifacts in their father's study, and a fight between Adalaide and Abner sent him away to the foothills of Tennessee for the last decade. Adalaide now lives her days alone on the decaying Barclay homestead, forging her own life completely by her lonesome. Just the way she prefers it, mind you.
